Mount Vesuvius

Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano on the Bay of Naples, about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) east of Naples and a short distance from the shore. Mount Vesuvius is best known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Paestum (Archaeological Site) & Bufalo Mozzarella Cheese Factory

Going through the Cilento coast, is like recalling the roaming of quiet people and their history , while the song of mermaids is still there, to witness ancient and present enticements; the strip of golden , soft sand, from the mouth of Sele river, beyond Camerota and down to Sapri, is broken by rocks and promontories, in an endless sequence that prevents full view of hinterland. But this invites you to look for open , wild beaches, and then take refuge in the quit village scattered around the hills. It's a fact that the perfection of the Doric temples of Aechaean Posidonia, named later Roman Paestum, dazzles and stuns the visitors. The basilica and the temples of Neptune and Ceres, surprise for the sobriety of their structures as well as, for their magnificence and sacred-ness. Also a must to see is the Museum, where you admire the fantastic fresco from the tomb of the Diver , the only existing example of Greek painting dated 480 B.C: the elegant slim figure of the diver .
